East Midlands Trains celebrated the £30 million refurbishment of its entire fleet of 93 trains by holding a line up at Derby Etches Park depot featuring a class member from each of its fleet.

It’s thought that this is the first time an operator has done this since rail privatisation.

The refurbishment programme commenced with class 158s in 2008 and then continued with HSTs, Meridians, class 153s and class 156s.

The £30m refurbishment is part of £90 million of investment during the EMT franchise, making improvements in areas that impact directly on performance, reliability and customer service.
