Qatar Rail has released images showing the final designs for the exteriors of its Doha Metro and Lusail Tram vehicles.
The metro train design, Al Faras, has been inspired by and named after the Arabian Mare, Qatar Rail has said. While the design for Al Mehmel, the name give to the Lusail Tram vehicles, derives from a traditional Qatari boat used for pearl fishing.

Two international consortia are currently constructing the two networks, both of which are on target to transport their first passengers in 2020, Qatar Rail said in a statement.
Japan’s Kinki Sharyo will supply 75 trains in total for the Doha Metro. Each be divided into Gold, Family and Standard classes. Although phase one of Doha Metro is due to be completed by 2020, the full three-line network won’t be finished until 2030.
The Lusail Tram vehicles are being supplied by Alstom and are based on its Citadis platform. Alstom is building 28 trams for the system, as well as delivering the associated power, signalling and track infrastructure.
