Direct Corporate Clothing (DCC), a part of the Workwear Uniform Group, has announced its sponsorship of Railway Mission’s chaplaincy teams with the provision of new high-visibility vests.

Outside of Birmingham New Street Station, Andrew Richards, managing director, officially handed over the vests to Railway Mission representatives, demonstrating the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting safety and well-being within the railway industry.

In an industry as essential and demanding as rail, where the well-being of staff is paramount, Railway Mission chaplains offer crucial support to railway workers across the UK, from depot teams to engineering staff. As dedicated responders, the chaplains are often called to provide comfort and assistance during times of difficulty, and their presence has become an invaluable part of the railway community.

Ensuring these chaplains are safely equipped with industry-compliant high-visibility vests enhances their ability to work in challenging environments while supporting staff across the network.

Andrew commented: “Providing the high-visibility clothing aligns with our values of safety for railway staff and commitment to our customers, who value the work of the Railway Mission. We are proud to contribute to the chaplains’ mission of support, particularly knowing they provide vital assistance in times of need.”

The collaboration was initiated after Claire Keville, business manager at Railway Mission, met with DCC representatives at RailLive last year. “Chaplains visit depots and engineering staff to offer support in times of difficulty,” Claire explained. “It’s important that the charity keeps our team safe by providing them with industry-compliant PPE.”

The sponsorship highlights DCC’s dedication to the railway community and its understanding of the essential role that Railway Mission chaplains play in the industry’s well-being and resilience. By providing these high-visibility vests, DCC not only enhances the chaplains’ safety but also strengthens the invaluable bond between the railway supply chain and those who support the people at its heart.
