The first phase of the Denver Eagle P3 project has entered service, creating a new rail link between Union Station and Denver International Airport.
The $2.2 billion project is the first public private partnership (PPP) railway project to be delivered in the USA.
John Laing Group plc, Fluor and Aberdeen Asset Management were awarded the contract in 2010 to design, build, finance, operate and maintain two new commuter lines and part of a third.
The project has involved the construction of 58 kilometres of new railway, including the East Corridor between Union Station and Denver International Airport, the Gold Line between Union Station and Wheat Ridge and a section of the Northwest Electrified Rail Corridor.
