Den Haag Centraal reopens following extensive rebuild

Den Haag Centraal station held an inauguration ceremony today (February 1) to celebrate the completion of a major renovation project.

The ceremony, which took place beneath the station’s new spectacular glass roof, was attended by State Secretary for Infrastructure and Environment Sharon Dijksma.

Den Haag is the latest Dutch city to completely redevelop its main rail station. Stations in Rotterdam, Delft and Arnhem reopened last year and projects at Breda, Tilburg, Eindhoven and Utrecht Centraal will come to an end later this year.

The schemes are all designed to meet the projected growth for high-speed rail services.
