A decision when, or if, rail services will be introduced between Newport and Ebbw Vale is expected later this year.

Currently a feasibility study into introducing the long awaited rail services is being carried out.

A report recommending redoubling the line between Llanhilleth and Aberdeeg has been submitted to the WAG, but is understood to be undergoing a number of revisions.

It was originally thought that the WAG report on the line would be released last March.

The Ebbw Vale to Cardiff line reopened in February 2008 and has proved extremely popular, with many passengers switching from bus to rail.
