Listen to this article

China’s CRRC says it has seen a substantial increase in overseas orders in the first half of this year.

International contracts totalling 14.88 billion Yuan ($2.24 billion) were recorded by the company in this period – an 126 per cent increase on the year before.

The rise in the number of overseas customers for CRRC has in part resulted in a 2.04 per cent increase in net profit for the company, CRRC has announced.

Orders include a contract with Chicago’s CTA to supply 846 metro cars, 56 diesel locomotives for Kenya, 96 metro trains for Thailand and 76 metro cars for India.

In August, CRRC also opened its first factory in India. The facility has been built by the CRRC Pioneer (India) Electric Co Ltd joint venture, which is 51 per cent owned by CRRC.
