Consultants appointed to develop initial designs for LIRR triple-tracking

AECOM and Gannett Fleming have been awarded a $6.95 million contract to carry out the preliminary engineering design and environmental review for a proposed triple-tracking project on the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR).

LIRR is planning to add a third track to the main line between Floral Park and Hicksville stations in order to add capacity and resilience against track and signalling failures.

The contract will also include a formal public consultation.
