A Salini Impregilo – NRW joint venture has been awarded the design/build contract for the Forrestfield Airport Link in Perth.
Construction is scheduled to begin later this year and is due to open in 2020.
The 8.5-kilometre Forrestfield Airport Link will create a spur off the Midland Line at Bayswater Junction, linking the airport with Perth’s commuter rail network.
The majority of the $2 billion airport link will run through a system of twin-bored tunnels.
Other bidders included Forrestfield Connect – ACCIONA Infrastructure, BAM International and Ferrovial Agroman – and JHL JV – John Holland and Leighton Contractors.
Transport Minister Dean Nalder said: “This is an incredibly exciting time for a project that will change the way the people of Perth, and in particular Perth’s eastern foothills, travel to our city.”
