Construction has begun on the last phase of the Koralm railway in Carinthia, Austria.

The 130km double-track, high-speed railway is now fully under construction after work began on the final 10km section between Aich and Mittlern.

This section will include four new railway bridges with road underpasses and three road bridges and is expected to be completed within the next few years.

In total the Koralm line includes 47km of tunnel, more than 100 bridges and underpasses, and 23 new railway stations.

Trains are already running on parts of the line as construction is largely complete. Once it is fully operational, the Koralm line will connect the cities of Graz and Klagenfurt, passing through the states of Carinthia and Styria.
