Following claims by passengers that Mainline trains to London are now ‘so fast that the countryside is just a blur’, today Chiltern Railways brought the countryside to Birmingham Moor Street station to remind them what it looks like.

No longer the slow option to London, following the launch of Mainline Chiltern Railways journey times have been slashed by 30 minutes and customers can now zoom down to London from just 90 minutes.

As part of the celebrations for the Mainline launch, the company welcomed picnickers to the “field” for a speedy lunch and gave away seeds so passengers could transform their gardens or window sills with fast growing herbs.

Ian Baxter, Customer Services Director of Chiltern Railways explains:

“After hearing reports passengers found the views a blur on the new fast trains, we thought we’d better bring the countryside to them at Moor Street station. Our newly launched Mainline service has transformed travel between Birmingham and London.

“Trains from 90 minutes, free Wi-Fi, our onboard offer, prices and ticket flexibility make us the obvious choice to London. We’re delighted to invite passengers to try us and enjoy the blur of the countryside.”

The grass will also be in place for a free family fun day and a 100mph teddy bear’s picnic with Charley Bear and Alex as seen on Cbeebies, that will take place at the station on Sunday, 11 September from 1000 – 1600.
