ČD Cargo has launched an international tender to procure five multi-system locomotives for cross-border operation.
The tender, which the company’s has estimated at €20.4 million, has specified new, ETCS Level 2-enabled vehicles.
The new locomotives will operate across Germany, Austria, Poland, Slovakia and Romania which requires them to be compatible with a variety of electrification systems.
ČD Cargo said the contract would likely include an option for three more units.
