Car crashes onto tracks at Stirling station

In a bizarre incident, a car crashed through a fence at Stirling station on Wednesday 14 October 2020 and ended up on the line between Platforms 2 and 3.

Scotrail was able to keep services running by diverting trains to Platforms 6 and 9.

Meanwhile, Network Rail switched off the overhead power and made arrangements for the car to be removed. They then checked the platforms for any damage that might have resulted in the car going over the edge.

Once all was finished, the power was switched back on and normal service resumed.

On the same day, a car crashed onto ground surrounding the West Highland line near Fort William. While it didn’t obstruct the track, services were delayed so a Network Rail team could recover it safely.
