CAF to build more rubber-tyred trains for Mexico City Metro

Listen to this article

Mexico City Metro’s operator, Sistema de Transporte Colectivo (STC), has awarded CAF a contract to supply 10 pneumatic tyred-trains for Line 1 of the city’s urban rail network.

The €164 million contract builds on an existing relationship between CAF and Mexico City Metro. Several CAF fleets are in use on the network, including 45 rubber-tyred trains built by a CAF/Bombardier consortium operating on lines 2 and 7.

Delivery of the first trains is scheduled for the first half of 2018. The new trains will support a wider infrastructure upgrade programme across the network.
