National Express train operator c2c is continuing an East End tradition in organising the annual summer excursion to Southend-on-Sea for Dagenham’s Reede Road Tenants and Residents Association on Saturday 27 August.

Several hundred local residents from the Dagenham area will enjoy a day out beside the seaside, thanks to the c2c team who have organised a complimentary, specially chartered train which will travel direct from Dagenham Dock to Southend Central station.

Southend Central station is a brief 2 minutes walk from the seafront, so in no time at all the Dagenham residents will be walking along the glorious beaches or the longest pier in the world, enjoying the sea breeze and the coastal views.

After their day out beside the seaside, another specially chartered c2c train will take the group home, leaving Southend Central in the late afternoon, calling at Barking and then Dagenham Dock stations.

Julian Drury, Managing Director of c2c said;

“We’re delighted to organise this summer excursion in conjunction with local MP Margaret Hodge for the Reede Road Tenants and Residents Association.

“It has become something of a local tradition, and a notable date in our diary. I’d like to thank the c2c team for the many extra hours they have put in to make this happen. It’s a great day out beside the seaside for all involved.”

Margaret Hodge MP said:

“I’m so pleased to have helped organise another fantastic trip to Southend-on-Sea for Barking and Dagenham residents. Summer just wouldn’t be the same without the Reede Road Tenants and Residents Association annual day out to the seaside.

“I’m really grateful to c2c for providing a specially chartered train for the outing. Without them this great community tradition would not be able to continue year after year.

“I’m sure that local residents will have a wonderful time beside the seaside and I hope they get some lovely weather on the day!”
