Listen to this article

Bombardier’s Chinese joint venture, Bombardier Sifang (Qingdao) Transportation (BST), has won more business from China Railway Corp (CRC) to supply new high-speed sleeper trains.

BST will supply 80 CRH1E-250 cars from its base in Qingdao which will form five 16-car train sets.

It is the second Chinese sleeper train order won by BST. The joint venture previously supplied 20 16-car trains in 2007 for the Chinese Ministry of Railways (MOR).

In September of 2015, BST also won a contract to build 15 eight-car CRH380D very high-speed trains.

The 430-metre trains, which represent an investment of 1.1 billion Chinese RMBs (€152 million), will be fitted with sleeping berths and have a maximum operating speed of 250 km/h.
