Bombardier has signed a deal worth up to €200 million to wiring systems supplier PKC Group.
The agreement includes fixed orders worth €50 million and an estimated €150 million in options for the supply of electrical cabinets for new Bombardier trains.
PKC said the cabinets would be installed in new trains being built over the course of the next decade for customers in central Europe. The company will supply up to 17 different cabinets for a single train type, PKC has said.
Deliveries for the fixed orders will start straight away and are due to be completed in 2019.
PKC’s rolling stock business (Kabel-Technik-Polska) has also been awarded a €5 million contract by Bombardier to supply its UK rail business.
Andre Gerstner, president of Kabel-Technik-Polska, said: “We are proud in supporting BT (Bombardier Transportation) in the execution of this strategic contract in Central Europe, making it for us potentially the biggest single order ever in the rolling stock business.
“And through our first contract signed with BT UK we are getting access to one of the strongest growing railway markets in Europe opening us opportunities for future organic growth.
“These new contracts are milestones in the development of our partnership with Bombardier Transportation.”
