Renfe has announced that it has received bids from four manufacturers looking to build up to 30 new high-speed trains for the operator.
Alstom, CAF, Siemens and Talgo are competing to supply the new 320 km/h Spanish train sets.
Last year, Renfe’s board of directors approved the purchase of 15 high-speed trains with an option for up to 15 extra.
The contract includes a 30-year maintenance period, with an option for a further 10 years.
