Indonesian rolling stock manufacturer Inka has won a contract for 200 metre-gauge train vehicles for Bangladesh Railway following an international tender.
Also known as the Indonesian Rolling Stock Manufacturing Corporation, the state-owned company said it will sign the contract in July or August, 2017, after Bangladesh Railway issues a notice of award – the official announcement from the Government of Bangladesh for the appointment of Inka as the winner of the tender.
It is the second time this year Inka has won a tender procurement in Bangladesh. In April it won a contract for 50 broad-gauge train carriages.
Inka was founded in 1981. Its trains have operated in the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Australia and from 2006 it has been involved in Bangladesh.
