Alstom to supply 14 new Paris Metro trains

The transport authority for France’s Île-de-France region has ordered 14 additional trains from Alstom for the Paris Metro.

The 127 million euro extension is part of an original contract signed in 2005 between Paris Metro operator RATP and Alstom for 49 trains.

Of the initial order, 42 trains have been delivered so far.

The new carriages will run on line 14 of the Paris Metro as part of the northbound extension of the line to Mairie de Saint-Ouen station.

Deliveries will begin in 2014 and end in 2015.

MP05 trains are designed and manufactured in France at the Valenciennes plant. Alstom Transport’s other four facilities involved in the project in France are Tarbes for traction chains, Ornans for engines, Le Creusot for bogies and Villeurbanne for the on-board IT system and passenger information systems.
