Alstom to install track for Toulouse tram Garonne line

The Greater Toulouse Public Transport Authority has selected the consortium composed of Alstom Transport, Egenie and Guintoli to construct sectors 1 and 2 of the Toulouse tram system’s Garonne line.

Guintoli is responsible for the civil engineering, whilst Alstom and Egenie, a local company, will handle track installation. Alstom’s share of the €16 million contract is nearly €5 million.

The 2.5-km track section will link the Arènes and Fer à Cheval stations.

To carry out this service, Alstom Transport will use its proprietary AppitrackTM solution. Appitrack is an innovative machine that lays track automatically and four times faster than traditional procedures.

The reduced project time guarantees better value for money and reduces disturbances for area residents.

Appitrack will shorten the length of this project to only six months from the 12 months originally budgeted for the Toulouse system’s Garonne line.

The civil engineering was launched in early December 2011.

Alstom Transport and Egenie will begin laying the track in summer 2012, and delivery of sectors 1 and 2 of the Garonne line is scheduled for late 2013.
