Bombardier and rolling stock leasing company Akiem have agreed a framework order for 52 Bombardier Traxx AC and MS locomotives.
Announcing the new framework agreement, which includes options for additional units in the future, Bombardier said Akiem had also exercised an option for five Traxx DC locomotives from an earlier contract.
Deliveries are due to start in 2017.
Bombardier said: “The Traxx locomotives supplied will be configured for use in 13 countries and will be fully compliant to the latest European standards including ETCS (European Train Control System) Baseline 3, when required.
“This will give Akiem the opportunity to extend the operational range of its locomotives and offer its customers a high degree of flexibility.”
