Parsons Brinckerhoff is to act as project management consultant to the Carmichael mine and rail project.
The scheme includes the construction of a non-electrified 388-kilometre heavy haul line will connect up to a 60 million tonne (product) per annum (Mtpa) thermal coal mine in the north Galilee Basin.
In July 2014, Posco was appointed as the contractor to construct the new railway, with work set to start in early 2015.
In a statement Parsons Brinckerhoff said it would be responsible for “managing and providing assurance services for the multiple engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts” for Adani Mining – the global construction company and subsidiary of the South Korean giant POSCO.
