West Coast Partnership Development appoints new managing director

Shamit Gaiger has been appointed as the new managing director for West Coast Partnership Development and will join the business on 25 July.

Shamit has extensive experience in the rail sector; with previous roles at the RSSB and Director of Strategy at National Skills Academy for Rail. She led the Rail Sector Deal negotiations on behalf of HM Government and was a non-executive director for Passenger Services at the Department for Transport. Most recently she led AECOM’s Advisory Europe team. Shamit is also a non-executive director of both Women in Rail and the Campaign for Better Transport.

Commenting, Steve Montgomery, First Rail managing director, said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Shamit Gaiger as managing director of our West Coast Partnership Development team, the shadow operator for HS2. Shamit is passionate about the future of rail and her expertise will be vital in delivering for our clients. We are all looking forward to having her on the team.”
