VolkerRail is pleased to announce the appointment of Jack Pendle as its new Engineering Director.

Jack joined VolkerRail in August 2007 in the role of professional head of Overhead Line Electrification (OHLE).

In May 2010 Pendle was promoted to the role of Head of Engineering for the company’s specialist businesses, a post he held until his recent promotion to Engineering Director.

He will now be responsible for all engineering within VolkerRail and the professional heads of P-way, civils, power and signalling will report into him.

Jack is a ‘career railway man’ with over 40 year’s experience, which began with British Rail as a trainee engineer in the late 1960’s. He is a Chartered Engineer and holds Fellowships of both the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Institution of Engineering Technology (formerly the Institution of Electrical Engineers). He also has an MBA from the University of Hull awarded in 1998.

Jack commented on his new appointment:

”I am delighted to be given this opportunity, which enables me to fulfil my personal ambitions in an industry which I have devoted my entire working life to. I believe the future in the rail industry is very bright and look forward to being part of the ambitious team at VolkerRail. There are some fantastic opportunities in new electrification and other multi-disciplinary projects in the market at the present time.

“I would like to say a big thank you to my colleagues in VolkerRail for their continued support over the last three and half years.”

Ken Robinson, Director of the Signalling, Power and Communications (SPC) division, commented on Jack’s appointment:

“Jack’s appointment strengthens our team in this key area at a time of tremendous opportunity in the rail sector, particularly with the forecasted growth in network electrification.”
