Record breaking year for the RailStaff Awards

More people have placed nominations and votes for the RailStaff Awards than ever before in the event’s six-year history.

Five-thousand people picked their favourite nominees in the first two days of voting alone and judging is now underway, with the overall winners to be confirmed on October 4.

Talking about the origins of the event, editor of RailStaff Andy Milne said: “After running positive stories about railway people for so long [we] reckoned we should have an awards scheme for the actual people who deliver the industry safely day in, day out.

“Every nomination is an award winner. It’s quite arbitrary really who wins, but I think what we see in the industry day by day is people going out of their way to deliver a safe and careful industry and although we get great drama the quiet heroism of people in our industry goes too often unremarked.”

Tables are selling out fast ahead of the ceremony, which this year takes on a prohibition theme, at Birmingham’s ICC on October 20.

Tables are still available at £95 (ex VAT). To book, just go to the website or call Pat on 01530 560021.
