Network Rail appoints Mark Tarry as Supply Chain Operations director

Network Rail is pleased to confirm that Mark Tarry has been appointed Supply Chain Operations director, succeeding Rob Morton, who recently became managing director for Route Services.

Mark is an inspirational and passionate individual with a unique set of skills and experience spanning 30 years across the rail industry. Starting his career under British Rail as a finance graduate, he subsequently qualified as a chartered
accountant (fellow) under Railtrack. Mark then embarked on an exciting career path leaving the finance profession behind, moving around the rail industry to acquire experience of leadership across sponsorship, operations & maintenance, and customer service.

Most recently, Mark was responsible for Business and Technical Services; a large service organisation along with the delivery of multifaceted technical services and highly complex national programmes to both Network Rail and the wider industry.

Whilst in this role, Mark has been driving safety transformation across the whole of Route Services.

Mark took up his new role on 28 March 2022. Commenting on his appointment, he said:

“I’m delighted to be taking on this new role and look forward to working with industry partners to make a sustained difference to the railway.

“The rail industry relies on a seamless, integrated supply chain and I’m looking forward to working with the team to continue delivering that for our customers safely and reliably.
