The judges of the Rail Business Awards commented that Dean had made a valuable contribution to engineering within the rail freight sector and were impressed with his development of innovative ideas that are used to deliver improved reliability and availability of rolling stock.

Alain Thauvette, Chief Executive of DB Schenker Rail (UK) Ltd, said: “We are delighted that Dean has been named as Rail Freight Engineer of the Future. Dean already has achieved much in his short railway engineering career and has a bright future ahead of him. He rightly deserves to be proud of his contribution to DB Schenker Rail and its freight customers and of his personal success at these awards.”

Apart from holding the title of Rail Freight Engineer of the Future, Dean will also receive a detailed training programme from Electro Motive designed to develop his career in the long-term, including two weeks all expenses paid training at their facility at La Grange in Chicago.
