A new Manchester Metrolink tram stop has opened at Abraham Moss as part of the area’s regeneration.

Metrolink consists of three lines which converge in Manchester city centre and serve the surrounding towns of Bury, Altrincham and Eccles.

The opening of the new stop spells the end of the stop at nearby Woodlands Road, which Metrolink says requires annual maintenance of £20,000.

Woodlands Road has limited access for disabled passengers and is set to close despite protests from local residents it is expected to close before the end of this year.

The tram system is currently undergoing major expansion with 4 new lines under construction by 2016.
