Russian Railways repaired 10,300 km of track in 2010

During line repair work in 2010, a total of 10,300 km of track was modernised by Russian Railways. Specifically, the company continued to install new track switches on reinforced concrete crossing sleepers, continuous welded track on reinforced concrete sleepers, and elastic rail spikes.

Track modernization work during 2010 has enabled them to increase passenger train speeds on 3,110 km of lines, and freight speeds on 1,860 km of lines.

The line repair work schedule for 2011 includes the modernization of 9,400 km of track.

During this year, the extent of continuous welded tracks is to be increased by 3,600 km, and 4,300 km of new sleepers with elastic rail spikes are to be installed.
