Deutsche  Bahn have announced that refurbishment work is set to begin on the Berlin-Hanover ICE line in Germany.

Work to replace 130,000 sleepers and renovate around 186km of track will begin on Monday 11 April and should be complete by August.

Trains will still be able to travel on the route during the works, although they will have to slow down to 120 km/h, adding an extra 30 minutes to journeys between two cities.

However, services may be disrupted and customers are being advised to check travel information before they travel.
