Rail Alliance to hold Macro Rail 2011 event

Friday 16th September will see the Rail Alliance throw open their doors to the rail industry free of charge to come and look at over 50 of their member companies demonstrating and exhibiting their products and services.

The event will be held at the Long Marston Railway’s Storage facility just 7 miles from Stratford on Avon.

The former MOD facility, which was used as a logistical depot for the D-Day Landings, has been used as a railway storage facility for over 1,000 pieces of rolling stock for the last few years and has over 20 miles of private track with 125 run offs and sidings.

Rail Alliance members will be carrying out live exhibitions around the depot facility, the track area and inside one of the hangars.

Visitors can expect to see demonstrations of rolling stock components, fabrications (including lightweight infrastructure structures and aluminium extrusions), mechanical and electrical systems, communications devices, cables and cable conduits, lighting, welding equipment and a host of other products.

There will also be providers of services such as non-destructive testing, surveying and mapping, and drainage maintenance.

Confirmed demonstrations also include include live welding, tamping machines, vegetation embankment control and a new road rail shunting machine.

Macro Rail 2011 is open from 10am to 4pm, is free to attend with free on-site parking.
