Eurostar, the high-speed passenger train service that links the UK and mainland Europe, has announced it will be running additional services between London and Paris on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 May, to meet increased demand resulting from the ash cloud disruption.

To help bank holiday passengers get away, Eurostar is organising one extra train on Friday and one extra train on Saturday from London St Pancras to Paris Gare Du Nord and back.

All 750 seats on each service are now available to book in Standard class, with catering available onboard from the buffet bar.

The extra services are:

Friday 27th May:

9016: London St Pancras 10:01 – Paris Gare Du Nord 13:17

9037: Paris Gare Du Nord 14:43 – London St Pancras 15:59

Saturday 28th May:

9016: London St Pancras 10:01 – Paris Gare Du Nord 13:17

9037: Paris Gare Du Nord 14:43 – London St Pancras 15:59

Mary Walsh, Director of Communications for Eurostar, said:

“Our services are always busy over bank holiday weekends, but we have seen a spike in demand over the next few days following the ash cloud disruption. We continue to monitor the situation and if the demand for tickets grows further we are in a position to lay on more additional services.”

During the ash cloud disruption in 2010, Eurostar ran over 60 extra services and carried more than 500,000 passengers, 100,000 more than were originally booked to travel.

Given the high level of demand, seats on these additional Eurostar services are expected to sell quickly, so customers are advised to go to the website or call 08432 186 186 to check availability and make their booking.
