Railpool orders selection of TRAXX locomotives

Listen to this article

Locomotive leasing company Railpool has ordered a mixture of multi-system and Last Mile TRAXX locomotives.

The €75 million order is for 18 locomotives – five Last Mile units and 13 multi-system locos.

It’s the first time the Last Mile type locomotives will be used in Scandinavia. The Last Mile variant, although an electric locomotive, has a low-emission diesel engine and battery on board, allowing it to run on both electrified and non-electrified routes.

The remaining multi-system locomotives will operate on routes between Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and Italy.

Bombardier plans to deliver the first Last Mile locomotive to Railpool for Q3 2016.
