Two train operators have officially launched Bombardier built trains onto their networks in recent weeks.

The class 172 is the latest train to roll off the production line in Derby and has already received rave reviews from passengers and staff alike.

London Midland passengers experiencing a class 172 for the first time said the new trains had the ‘wow factor’ and were especially grateful for the air conditioning, a first on LM Birmingham Snow Hill services, during August’s high temperatures.

Chiltern’s 172s have been equally well received by passengers, who are benefiting from the first new commuter trains for over two decades.

With 31 new trains in total, 27 for London Midland and 4 for Chiltern, the new class 172s will all be delivered by October representing an investment of over £100m.
