ScotRail has confirmed its half price offer for Scottish students will return this Christmas.

The offer will see the train operator cut its prices with a massive 50% discount on train tickets across Scotland’s Railway.

College and university students will be able to take advantage of half price travel on any Off-Peak ScotRail ticket from Monday, 21 November 2022 until Monday 9 January 2023.

Available on all Off-Peak tickets, except Super Off-Peak Day Return tickets, students will save whatever their festive plans.

All students need to do is turn up at a staffed ticket office with their valid student photo ID, purchase their half-price ticket, and jump on board. Tickets can also be purchased on-board trains if students are travelling from a station where no ticket office is available.

And the savings will roll right into the new year too, as customers who buy Off-Peak return tickets will have up to one month to use the return portion for their journey back to colleague or university after the festive break – up to Wednesday, 8 February 2023 for tickets purchased on 9 January.

Full details on the promotion are available on the ScotRail website at scotrail.co.uk/students.

Lesley Kane, ScotRail commercial director, said: “Our half price offer for Scottish students has proven really popular in the past, so we’re thrilled to be able to pass on the savings again – just in time for the Christmas holidays.

“Everyone is feeling the pinch just now, but for students it can be even more challenging as they try to balance their finances, buy gifts for loved ones, and spend time with family and friends.

“The return of our half price deal on tickets is our gift to them this Christmas – whether students are travelling home for the holidays, going on a night out, or heading into town for some shopping, our sleighed ticket prices will help them make the most of this special time of year.”
