Train operator East Coast has lent a helping hand to the Newport Pagnell Youth Under 15s team to assist with the cost of their new strip.

The team, whose home games are played at Newport Pagnell Youth Club, Newport Pagnell, near Milton Keynes, received £200 sponsorship towards their new home kit, which now proudly displays East Coast’s logo.

Manager Jeff Carter, who is also one of East Coast’s train drivers based at King’s Cross, made the appeal to the company after setting up the team in the summer of 2010 after being asked by his grandson.

Jeff said: “My grandson Jordan and some of his school friends got together and decided they wanted to start a football team, so I offered to manage them and went about registering the team to play in the Milton Keynes and Border Counties League, Division 3.

“Since we started in September 2010, we have had some success and the boys have been working hard to improve and gel after never having played a game together as a team before.

“We really appreciate East Coast’s sponsorship which was has proved a great help in contributing towards the new kit and we look forward to the rest of the season.”

East Coast Head of Communications Neal Smith said: “We are proud to sponsor the Newport Pagnell Youth Under 15s team and hope that it will help them develop as a team.

“The East Coast logo looks great on their new strip and we wish them all the best in their upcoming games.”
