Goldschmidt Thermit Group buys Polish technology firm GRAW

Rail welding specialist the Goldschmidt Thermit Group has announced the acquisition of GRAW, a Polish firm that specialises in laser measurement systems.

The move marks an expansion of the German company’s 20-strong portfolio of businesses that serve the international rail industry.

Stefan Damm, vice president of rail solutions at the Goldschmidt Thermit Group, said that smarter solutions are needed to encourage the growth of rail transport all over the world.

He added: “The integration of GRAW into our portfolio allows us to offer both stand-alone devices as well as train-based controls that provide digital information to the asset management systems of network operators in Europe and Asia.”

President of GRAW Juliusz Grabczyk said: “Our products perfectly complement the product range of the Goldschmidt Thermit Group.

“We have consciously decided in favour of the Goldschmidt Thermit Group because the company is setting standards in the field of digitalisation and attaches great importance to the research and development of new tools and technical innovation.”

GRAW develops and produces computer-controlled measurement devices for rails, switches, tracks and train wheels. In addition it also develops systems that evaluate the condition of track and rolling stock wheels in real-time for predictive maintenance.
