TransPennine Express (TPE) has welcomed a new British Transport Police (BTP) Liaison Officer to help keep the network as safe as possible for customers and colleagues.
Sergeant Steve O’Callaghan, who has been a serving police officer for 18 years, will have a pivotal role in helping TPE with its day-to-day and special operations.
Sgt O’Callaghan said: “I’m really looking forward to getting out and about across the network and getting to know the different routes and stations.
“I’m keen to begin building relationships with my new colleagues at TPE and the communities they serve, alongside using previous policing experience to continue to enhance the relationship between TPE and BTP.”
Steve spent the first 13 years of his career within Derbyshire Constabulary, before transferring to BTP where he is based in his hometown of Sheffield.
Steve added: “I have worked within a number of police departments and specialist roles, including the safer neighbourhood policing teams, so have experience in community engagement and partnership roles.
“I have a real passion for partnership work and already have a few initiatives in the pipeline that I’m excited to lead.
“But, more than anything, I enjoy working with people and will spend a lot of time out and about on the network as part of my role. If you see me while you’re travelling, feel free to say hi.”
Kathryn O’Brien, Customer Service and Operations Director at TPE, said: “We’re really happy to have Steve on-board with TPE and can’t wait to work with him to develop new ways of keeping our customers and colleagues even safer when travelling with TPE.
