In a historic day for the Korean peninsula, the leaders of the region’s two divided states have agreed to work together to connect and modernise their border railways.

In a joint announcement online, South Korean president Moon Jae-in and North Korean president Kim Jong-un said they would end the long-established stand off and division between the two and develop inter-Korean relations.

Part of this agreement includes “taking practical measures to connect and modernise the Donghae and Gyeongui railways”.
