The teams of architects, designers and engineers who will design four stations for HS2 have been revealed.

Described by HS2 as the largest new station building programme in the UK since the Victorian age, it will see new stations built in Birmingham city centre, Solihull and London’s Old Oak Common, as well as development work at London Euston.

The following designers have been awarded station contracts:

  • Birmingham Curzon Street – WSP UK (working with Grimshaw Architects);
  • Birmingham Interchange – Ove Arup & Partners International (working with Arup Associates and Wilkinson Eyre Architects);
  • Old Oak Common – WSP UK (working with Wilkinson Eyre Architects);
  • London Euston – Ove Arup & Partners International (working with Grimshaw Architects).

HS2 CEO Mark Thurston said that these stations will “be at the heart of the first phase of the project” and help to increase capacity, improve journeys and unlock opportunities for tens of thousands of new jobs and homes around them.

With input from local communities, the winning teams will be tasked with making the stations: people-centered with shopping, business and leisure facilities; accessible for all; future-proofed to accommodate for future change; while also respecting each location’s physical and cultural legacy.

The stations are due to open in 2026.
